Under the current movement control order SOPs, only three people are allowed in a car.
In a Twitter post, Neelofa said her lawyer Ahmad Zaharil Muhaiyar was not in the same vehicle when she and her husband Muhammad Haris Mohd Ismail arrived at the Seremban district police headquarters (IPD) today.
Neelofa added that her representative contacted the Seremban IPD about the situation before leaving her home in Kuala Lumpur.
“We contacted the Seremban IPD and they are aware of the matter. Haris, my driver and I returned to Kuala Lumpur using our car while Zaharil drove there in his own car.
“The police can re-examine the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage of us just dropping off our lawyer in the courtyard next to the station.
“Hopefully, this can explain what happened as we want to avoid any misunderstanding,” she said.
Neelofa’s Twitter post came after a video was posted which showed Zaharil riding in the same vehicle with Neelofa in front of the Seremban IPD today.
Earlier today, she spent an hour at the Seremban IPD to give her statement over the allegation that she did not wear a face mask when she presented herself at the Seremban court complex last Thursday.
Seremban police chief Mohd Said Ibrahim said Neelofa had cooperated with the investigation and adhered to the SOPs when she came to give her statement today.
He said the case was being investigated under Section 269 of the Penal Code and Regulation 17(1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Regulations (Measures within the Infected Local Areas) 2021.
