MP calls for guidelines to avoid vaccine errors

This comes after a video went viral on Twitter showing a man believed to be receiving a lower dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine.

A man in Kuching, said to have received a lower dose of vaccine, has been told to go for another dose according to a Twitter posting.
PETALING JAYA:
Following allegations of improper AstraZeneca vaccine doses being given, an MP has urged the health ministry to come up with guidelines to avoid Covid-19 vaccine administration errors and deviations.

Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii said a proper monitoring and quality control system should be established, as the vaccination rate is expected to be increased once the country’s vaccine supply increased.

“The tendency of possible human error happening may increase. Thus, on top of a proper monitoring system, the health ministry must also come up with comprehensive vaccine administration guidelines.”

He said the guidelines should include instructions to inform the recipient of the error, how to determine the error occurred, and strategies to prevent it from happening again. He added a similar guideline had been published and implemented in the US.

Earlier today, a video went viral on Twitter showing a man believed to be receiving a lower dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine. However, a later posting said he had been told to go for a re-dose.
