PETALING JAYA:
Pakatan Harapan (PH) Youth has submitted a memorandum to the United States embassy in Malaysia urging the US government to ensure Israel complies with the agreed ceasefire with Hamas.

It also urged the US to review its diplomatic ties with Israel and to stop any arms dealing with, and military aid for the country, following the conflict over the past few weeks.

Citing reports that the US contributes US$3.8 billion in annual assistance to Israel, it backed Bernie Sanders’ proposed resolution in the US Senate for the government to halt a planned weapons sale to Israel worth US$735 million.

“We believe it has never been clearer that Israel has committed various human rights violations and war crimes throughout the years.

“We urge the US government, especially President Joe Biden, to prove to Americans and the world that his leadership is indeed a firm believer and defender of human rights and that all lives matter,” said PH Youth.

Previously, PH leaders said a memorandum endorsed by opposition MPs calling for a de-escalation of the Israel-Palestine conflict will be sent to the embassy.
