PETALING JAYA:
After many complaints of SOP offences in quarantine centres, the health ministry has released a list of things Covid-19 patients should and should not pack when headed to the low-risk treatment and quarantine centres.

Cigarettes, electronic cigarettes, alcoholic drinks and cooking appliances are not allowed. So too are extension cords and playing cards, according to an infographic posted by the ministry on Twitter.

It said poisonous substances, firearms, pets and sharp tools are also not allowed, adding that confiscated items will not be returned.

Meanwhile, patients headed there should prepare comfortable clothing, toiletries, sleepwear, towels, sweaters, face masks, hand sanitisers, snacks, any necessary medicine and also additional food.

To keep themselves occupied, they are allowed to bring along their phones, tablets, laptops, powerbanks and reading materials.

Recently, in a letter to FMT detailing his time at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang quarantine centre, a reader said some patients had turned one of the exits into a “smoker’s corner”.

There have also been complaints of a lack of food available at the same centre.
