PETALING JAYA:
The Malaysian Association for the Blind (MAB) has opened registration for Covid-19 vaccination for members of the visually impaired community in the Klang Valley.

MAB said the health ministry and the science, technology and innovation ministry had agreed to turn the MAB complex in Brickfields into a vaccination centre (PPV) for the blind next month.

“Registration is open to any member of the blind community living in the Klang Valley registered with the Welfare Department,” MAB chief George Thomas said in a statement.

“The vaccination drive is open to those above the age of 18 and we are expecting more than 1,000 to register.”

Each visually impaired person is allowed to be escorted by one relative or caregiver, who will also be eligible to be vaccinated together.

Thomas said that for those who have registered to be vaccinated at other locations, they can give MAB their MyKad details and the health ministry can move their vaccination location to the MAB complex.

Interested parties may contact MAB at 03-22722677 from 9am to 3.30pm from Monday to Thursday and from 9am to 12.30pm on Friday.

Registration will end at 3.30pm on May 31.
