PETALING JAYA:
An autopsy conducted on security guard Sivabalan Subramaniam has confirmed that the 43-year-old died due to a heart attack, says Selangor police chief Arjunaidi Mohamed.

In a statement, Arjunaidi said the post-mortem also found that Sivabalan did not suffer from any physical injuries, adding that his family has been informed of the cause of his death by Hospital Kuala Lumpur.

“The case has been classified as a sudden death. Investigation papers will be completed later and handed over to the deputy public prosecutor with the proposal for an inquest to be held over his death,” he said.

Earlier, Arjunaidi said Sivabalan was not at the Gombak district police headquarters for investigation purposes but for documentation after an arrest warrant was issued against him.

He said the security guard was taken from a factory at about 11.20am without handcuffs as he had given full cooperation to the police. However, Sivabalan began experiencing shortness of breath after he arrived at the police station at 11.40am.

“He was still breathing when the team from the Selayang Hospital arrived to provide emergency assistance before he was confirmed dead.

“We want to emphasise that he was not brought to the police station for an investigation. He was brought in because a warrant had been issued against him and he promised that he would appear in court,” he said.
