Nikkei’s Future of Asia conference to open with speech by Muhyiddin

Dr Mahathir Mohamad is also scheduled to address the annual Tokyo event, to be held online.

PETALING JAYA:
Nikkei’s annual The Future of Asia conference will begin in Tokyo today, with a who’s who list of top leaders due to deliver their perspectives on the region’s current challenges and post-Covid-19 era.

The event, which will be online and held for two days until tomorrow, will open with a keynote address by Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin, Nikkei Asia has reported.

Muhyiddin’s address will be followed by that of Singapore’s deputy prime minister Heng Swee Keat, Vietnamese premier Pham Minh Chinh, Thaiand’s Prayuth Chan-ocha and Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen.

Japanese prime minister Yoshihide Suga will deliver a closing speech at the end of today’s session.

Pakistan’s  prime minister Imran Khan and Dr Mahathir Mohamad are among the scheduled speakers tomorrow.

Experts will join panel discussions on themes such as “Asia and the new US administration,” “How can Asia build a fair society?” and “New frontiers for innovation in the Covid-19 era.”
