Neelofa, hubby plead not guilty to flouting SOPs during carpet shopping trip

Celebrity Noor Neelofa Mohd Noor and her husband, Muhammad Haris Mohd Ismail, pleaded not guilty to defying conditional movement control order SOPs while shopping for carpets in Nilai earlier this month.

Neelofa is facing one charge while her husband is facing two charges.

Neelofa is accused of not scanning the MySejahtera QR Code or registering manually to check in at the premises.

Haris is charged with failing to scan the MySejahtera QR Code or registering manually to check in at the same premises, as well as with not wearing a face mask at a public place as required under the SOPs.

The charges are under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within Infected Local Areas) (Recovery Movement Control) (No. 3) (Amendment) (No. 16) Regulations 2021.

If convicted, they could be fined RM50,000 or imprisoned for not more than six months, or both, on each charge.

Neelofa and Haris pleaded not guilty to all the charges read out against them before magistrate Mahyun Yusoff and asked for the case to go to trial.

The court ordered Neelofa to post bail of RM5,000, and Haris was ordered to post bail of RM10,000. It also set June 4 for re-mention and submission of documents.

On May 2, pictures and videos of Neelofa and Haris were uploaded on social media, which immediately went viral.
