No orders to have DAP rep with me, says Wanita Umno chief

KUALA LUMPUR:
Bangi MP Ong Kian Ming happened to be at Sungai Merab last Wednesday when Wanita Umno chief Noraini Ahmad was on a visit there and his presence was not under the instruction of the Umno leadership as alleged.

Noraini, in a statement here today, clarified that she met Ong while she was visiting the vaccine centre (PPV) at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM).

“I was at the UKM PPV to meet MyVac volunteers (helping in the vaccination) who could not return to their hometowns to celebrate Aidilfitri,” she said.

Noraini added that Ong had wanted to follow her delegation to visit a UKM doctorate student in Sungai Merab in Bangi as the student is suffering from cancer and the area is also under his parliamentary constituency.

As such, Noraini denied allegations by certain quarters that Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had instructed that DAP representatives be invited to every programme organised by the party.

Noraini, along with higher education ministry director-general Hussaini Omar, had on Wednesday visited PhD student Azura Omar to give her support as she battles cancer.
