Seputeh MP Teresa Kok said the surge in Covid-19 cases in the country, which is expected to worsen, will add pressure on the health system, especially for patients needing intensive care (ICU).
Due to that, she urged the government to follow in the footsteps of China in fighting Covid-19 cases.
She said according to worldometers.info, the country of 1.4 billion reported only 300 active Covid-19 cases on April 22.
“One of the reasons China overcame this is through the usage of TCM. It has effectively curbed the spread of Covid-19,” she said in a statement.
She was referring to media reports that China has added three patented items of TCM for the treatment for Covid-19.
The drugs are Jinhua Qinggan granules, Lianhua Qingwen capsules and Xuebijing injections, which have undergone clinical trials with the National Medical Products Administration.
China’s National TCM Administration was reported as saying that the drugs had been widely used in Covid-19 treatment for more than 70,000 patients across China.
