PETALING JAYA:
Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani has been appointed as the next inspector-general of police.

According to Bernama, his appointment will come into effect next Tuesday.

Acryl Sani, currently the deputy IGP, will replace Abdul Hamid Bador, whose two-year contract ends on Monday.

Home minister Hamzah Zainudin presented him with his appointment letter earlier today.

Acryl Sani had previously led the Commercial Crime Investigation Department, the Strategic Resources and Technology Department and the Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department at Bukit Aman.

Earlier, there were calls for Hamid’s contract to be extended, saying he needed more time to address corruption and the “cartel” within the police force.
