PETALING JAYA:
The public has voiced concern over the operation of a funfair at Cheras Selatan in Balakong, Selangor, which is alleged to have violated Covid-19 standard operating procedures.

In a 13-minute video clip that went viral on social media, a man questioned why local authorities have allowed the funfair to operate as infection rates are still high.

“We’re in a state of emergency, it’s the month of Ramadan, is there a need for a funfair? There is an age limit to attend Ramadan bazaars but not for a funfair?” the man asked.

“Where are the authorities? Obviously, those in line are not social distancing.”

The funfair is located next to a shopping mall in south Cheras and is said to open from April 12 to May 24.

Facebook user Suresh Kumar questioned how a funfair was allowed to operate when cases of Covid-19 infections were still high.

“Is it very important to hold a funfair? The number of Covid-19 cases has not dropped below 1,000,” he said.

Meanwhile, Aiman Nor Amri said she expects a “funfair cluster” to appear soon.
