“Yes, I got a rape threat from one of my male schoolmates at school. I cried,” she said on Twitter today.

“Nevertheless, boys like him are exactly the reason I continue my fight. Teachers who continuously ‘infect’ boys with this kind of mindset need to be purged from our education system.”

FMT has been unable to reach the 17-year-old for comment.

She also retweeted a comment by another Twitter user, “Suresh”, who said: “The teacher enabled this threat to happen. In fact, our whole education system did.”

Her father, acknowledging that there was a rape threat, told AstroAwani he would be lodging a police report. He has also lodged a police report about the teacher’s jokes.

The teenager created waves on social media yesterday after posting a video on Friday stating that a teacher at her school in Selangor had said “If you (students) want to rape, don’t rape someone under 18. Rape someone over 18”.

The teacher allegedly made the comments during a class on sexual harassment. She also claimed that he said boys who were raped did not report it because “it felt good”.

An education ministry spokesperson told FMT the matter is under investigation.
