Police acted after netizens started viralling a video clip of the run-down vehicle. It attracted lots of attention because of the unbelievable state of the car.
The driver, 47, was arrested for not having a driver’s licence and endangering others on the road.
Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Zulkefly Yahya said further inspection found that the driver had not applied for a road tax.
He said the driver also owned a green Kancil with a broken left rear view mirror, but without a registered number plate.
“Both cars are unfit to be on the road and are a danger to other road users,” said Zulkefly in a statement, according to Berita Harian.
Spotted along the streets of Kepong, the Kancil previously made its rounds on social media due its poor condition.
The vehicle has been confiscated under Section 64 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for further investigations.
