This follows the announcement by the Prime Minister’s Office yesterday of a similar amount to federal civil servants, to be paid on May 6.

In a statement, chief minister Hajiji Noor said the state government welcomed the announcement by PMO, and had agreed to provide RM500 to all state civil servants in Grade 54 and below.

The recipients will include daily part-time workers and those with state statutory bodies and local authorities.

In addition to the 22,189 state civil servants, government pensioners will receive a special payment of RM250.

The aid will be paid on May 7.

“This is in appreciation of the service and sacrifice of all public servants in carrying out their responsibilities to the people, especially when facing the Covid-19 pandemic in the state,” Hajiji said.
