PETALING JAYA:
The police are calling for cool heads after the calls on social media for reprisal following the viral news of two bodyguards allegedly being assaulted for fasting.

In a statement today, Selangor police chief Arjunaidi Mohamed said they have found several videos on social media platforms calling for action to be taken against the suspects who beat two bodyguards for fasting.

“Apart from that, there were also several calls mixed with threats from certain parties to declare war and besiege the Klang area,” he said.

“Such statements can make the situation worse and disrupt public order, and action can be taken under Section 504 of the Penal Code.

“Police urge and advise the community not to take the law into their own hands and worsen the situation.”

Arjunaidi also advised the public not to speculate, share or spread news from unverified sources.

“Another individual has been arrested in relation to the case, bringing the total number of arrests to five,” he added.

On Monday, two men, believed to be bodyguards, were beaten on their backs with a cane and a gun, allegedly by their employer and other workers.
