Bodyguards allege they were beaten, threatened with gun for fasting

Police say a 43-year-old man has been arrested and several others are being sought for investigation into voluntarily causing hurt and for criminal intimidation.

A bodyguard has made a police report that he and a colleague were caned and assaulted for fasting.
KUALA LUMPUR:
A 43-year-old man has been arrested soon after photos and copies of a police report on alleged abuse of two of his bodyguards went viral on social media.

The man was arrested on suspicion of making threats with a gun and caning the two men as he was allegedly unhappy they were fasting.

Dang Wangi police chief Mohamad Zainal Abdullah said the incident happened at a condominium in Jalan Pinang at about 11pm last night, when the man asked the complainant and a colleague whether they were fasting.

Zainal said after they replied that they were fasting, the man scolded them and slapped the complainant on the head. The two bodyguards then followed the suspect to his house in Klang, Selangor, where they were beaten with a cane by his other staff, with the suspect also threatening them with a gun.

Initial investigations found that the complainant and his colleague worked with a security firm as bodyguards, Zainal said.

“When the complainant refused (not to fast), the suspect slapped him on the head while at the condominium in Jalan Pinang,” said Zainal in a statement to reporters today.

“While at the suspect’s house in Klang, his other employees beat the complainant and his friend with a cane, causing the complainant to suffer bruises and blood clots.

“The suspect also grabbed a Glock pistol belonging to his bodyguard and pointed it at the complainant while making death threats. Police have seized the pistol.

The complainant and his friend suffered bruises on the back of the body and received treatment at the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital in Klang before making a police report at the Klang police station at about 3am today.

Zainal said the police have opened an investigation for voluntarily causing hurt and for criminal intimidation. Efforts are currently under way to track down and detain several other suspects to assist in the investigation.
