Vaccinate private dentists quickly, urges association

The private dentists group says a list of their members has been sent to district health offices.

The Malaysian Private Dental Practitioners’ Association said its members are exposed to Covid-19 risks daily.
PETALING JAYA:
The Malaysian Private Dental Practitioners’ Association has urged that its members be vaccinated against Covid-19 faster in light of the risk of infection they face in their daily work.

“We hope the ministry recognises the importance of private dentists to be vaccinated soon due to the risks we are exposed to daily,” said the association’s president Dr P Mahendran in a statement today.

Stating that many private dentists across the country have yet to be called up for their vaccinations, the association is worried that this could be due to the health ministry’s difficulty in identifying them.

Mahendran said one of the reasons for this might be because private dentists have also registered for their vaccinations through the MySehjatera app like the rest of the general population.

He also said that the association has been made aware that district health offices have yet to receive the lists of private dentists registered under MPDPA who were to be vaccinated despite the list having been sent one month ago.
