A total of 137 people were arrested by the police yesterday for breaching Covid-19 standard operating procedures, senior minister for security Ismail Sabri Yaakob said.

In a statement, Ismail said 114 of them were issued compound fines, 10 remanded and 13 were granted bail.

Most of the offences were recorded at entertainment centres (71), crossing state without permission (32), failing to register details on the MySejahtera app (19), failing to follow physical distancing (five) and others (10).

The authorities also detained four undocumented migrants and confiscated four vehicles under the ongoing Op Benteng campaign.

On mandatory home quarantine, Ismail said 793 individuals entered Malaysian borders, bringing the total number screened at various borders to 165,036 people who arrived since July 24.

Of the total, 1,250 individuals were sent to hospital for treatment, while 155,801 individuals were allowed to return home.

Ismail said the enhanced movement control order at Kampung Juara, Pulau Tioman in Rompin, Pahang which was scheduled to end tomorrow has been extended to April 20.

He said the health ministry carried out 513 medical swabs, with 53 testing positive.
