4 new Covid-19 clusters, 2 involving workplaces

The clusters are located in Johor, Negeri Sembilan, Selangor and Sarawak.

There are two workplace clusters, one community cluster and one cluster involves a high-risk group.
PETALING JAYA:
The health ministry has detected four new Covid-19 clusters in the past 24 hours, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said today.

In a statement, he said two of them were workplace clusters, one was a community cluster and the other involved a high-risk group.

Four clusters were detected in Johor, Negeri Sembilan, Selangor and Sarawak.

The clusters which saw the highest number of new cases were Tapak Bina Persiaran Sunsuria (52), Industri Permata Dua (51) and Teknologi Lot Enam (48).

The new clusters are:

Johor

  • Jalan Wawasan Dua: A workplace cluster involving Batu Pahat. The index case for this cluster reported positive for Covid-19 on March 21, as a result of symptomatic individual screening. This cluster involves workers at a factory located on Jalan Wawasan 2, Kawasan Perindustrian Sri Gading, Batu Pahat. As of today, a total of 56 individuals have been screened, with 24 testing positive.

Negeri Sembilan

  • Industri Permata Dua: A workplace cluster in Seremban. Initial cases in this cluster were reported positive for Covid-19 today as a result of the targeted screening of workers from three factories located at Jalan Permata 2, Arab Malaysian Industrial Estate, Nilai, Seremban. As of today, a total of 334 individuals have been screened, with 51 testing positive.

Selangor

  • Jalan Alam: A cluster involving high-risk groups in Kuala Langat, Klang, and Petaling. The index case for this cluster reported positive on March 14, after symptomatic individual screening. This cluster involves a medical centre located at Jalan Sultan Alam Shah, Banting, Kuala Langat. As of today, a total of 97 individuals have been screened, with 16 testing positive.

Sarawak

  • Chupak: A community cluster involving the Serian and Samarahan districts. The index case for this cluster reported positive on March 10 after symptomatic individual screening. This cluster involves the community in Kampung Chupak, Siburan, Serian. As of today, a total of 338 individuals have been screened, with 57 testing positive.
