SINGAPORE:
Singapore has recalled eggs imported from another farm from Malaysia because of the presence of Salmonella enteritidis (SE).

The affected eggs from Linggi Agriculture Sdn Bhd can be identified by the stamp “CEM014” on them, said the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) in its Facebook update.

The agency said that as SE may cause foodborne illness if food is consumed raw or undercooked, it has directed four importers to recall the product as a precautionary measure.

The importers are An Hong Egg Supplies, Chuan Huat Poultry Farm Pte Ltd, Dasoon Pte Ltd and FE Supply Pte Ltd.

“The recall is ongoing,” it said.

SFA said not all eggs imported by the companies were affected as only those marked “CEM014” were being recalled.

It said the bacteria had been detected in eggs imported from Linggi Agriculture Sdn Bhd, which had been suspended. The suspension would only be lifted after the farm had rectified the contamination issue.

A week ago, Singapore had directed four importers to recall eggs from Lay Hong Bhd Layer Farm Jeram following a similar issue
