In a Facebook post, PPBM information chief Wan Saiful Wan Jan also challenged the Padang Serai MP to lodge a report with the police and Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) if his claims were true.
Earlier today, Karupaiya said his family members, including his son, were being approached to persuade him to quit his party and support Perikatan Nasional (PN).
Previously, Karupaiya was reported to have said that he received two calls on Sunday from a man who only identified himself as “Azhar”.
He also claimed that “agents” may have been hired to persuade opposition MPs to support PN in exchange for a “bonus”.
Wan Saiful said there is no PPBM Supreme Council member named “Azhar”.
“I don’t know who called him (Karupaiya). He suddenly wants to slander others.
“An MP should know that if a person is not an official representative of a party, then he has no ties to the party.
“Do not try to link the party to strangers. Stop this culture of slander. If there is proof, lodge a report with the police and MACC.”
Wan Saiful said the reality was that PKR was “crumbling” and its members did not have any confidence in the party. He said the party should get its house in order.
On Tuesday, PKR president Anwar Ibrahim said Karupaiya and three other MPs — Sungai Siput’s S Kesavan, Putatan’s Awang Husaini and Miri’s Michael Teo — were approached to back the government.
The party’s Sekijang MP Natrah Ismail had earlier lodged a report with the MACC saying that she had been asked to switch sides.
