PETALING JAYA:
Police have identified a person behind a viral video said to be instigating the people against a High Court decision to allow non-Muslims to use the word “Allah” in their religious education.

The director of the federal CID, Huzir Mohamed, said the suspect will be asked to give a statement soon.

Huzir said an investigation was started on March 13 against the holder of the Facebook account Mujahidah Malaysia which was found to be instigating people against the court decision.

The video was released after the High Court ruled on March 10 that non-Muslims can use the word Allah for religious knowledge and in their holy books.

“Police have detected several statements disputing the High Court’s decision, which are considered seditious,” he said.

The video clip, he said, was 12 minutes and 34 seconds long, and was shared by the account holder on social media. It garnered 9,700 responses, 5,900 comments and 7,300 shares, he added.

The investigation will be carried out under the Sedition Act and the Communications and Multimedia Act.

He urged social media users to be responsible and not to disrupt the harmony of the country.

Earlier today, the Borneo Post reported that Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak Baru had lodged a police report against a woman for allegedly making inflammatory remarks.
