16 foreigners nabbed in raid at Low Yat Plaza

PETALING JAYA:
Authorities nabbed 16 foreigners working at several shops in Low Yat Plaza in a joint raid by the Immigration Department and the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), this evening.

In a statement, DBKL said the 16 – comprising Indian, Bangladesh, Pakistan nationals – were working in shops selling computer accessories and gadgets that were operating without a valid licence from DBKL.

Three of the 10 premises that were raided were forced to closed down immediately.

Authorities also issued a compound to seven of the business owners for hiring the foreign workers illegally.

The owners of the three remaining shops were issued a compound for running a business without a proper licence.
