
He said investigations by Johor’s Environment Department found that dissolved oxygen levels and pH readings in the river’s waters were normal.
He added that the dark-coloured water reported by the public was caused by effluents from factories nearby, maintaining that it was not as dangerous as the pollution incident two years ago.
“Reports claiming that the pollution was worse than in 2019 are not true. There is no toxic pollution at Sungai Kim Kim,” he said while visiting the river today.
He also hoped residents would file complaints directly with the Environment Department as immediate action needed to be taken to prevent evidence from going missing.
On a separate matter, Tuan Ibrahim denied that he had discussed the issue of seat allocations with Johor menteri besar Hasni Mohammad in their meeting earlier this morning.
He said they only discussed two issues involving his ministry, namely the sewage systems in Johor Bahru and Pasir Gudang and open burnings in the state.
“It was my courtesy visit (as a minister). There was no discussion on seat allocations,” he said of his meeting with the state Umno leader and Benut assemblyman.
