17 new Covid-19 clusters, 14 involving workplaces

The rest involve high-risk groups and community clusters.

The clusters were detected in Johor, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Sabah, Penang, Pahang, Terengganu and Perak.
PETALING JAYA:
The health ministry has detected 17 new Covid-19 clusters in the past 24 hours, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said today.

In a statement, he said 14 of them involved workplaces.

The clusters were detected in Johor, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Sabah, Penang, Pahang, Terengganu and Perak.

Selangor and Johor reported five clusters each, while two were detected in Sabah, and one each in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Pahang, Terengganu, and Perak.

The 17 new clusters are:

Selangor:

  • Jalan Bukit Kemuning – a workplace cluster in Klang. The first few cases tested positive today after a targeted screening of employees at a service company in Shah Alam. Some 147 people were screened, 55 of whom tested positive.
  • Jalan Industri Kidamai – a workplace cluster in Hulu Langat. The first few cases tested positive on Feb 14 after a targeted screening of factory workers in Kajang. To date, 510 individuals have been screened, with 22 testing positive.
  • Jalan Jitu – a workplace cluster in Klang. The first few cases tested positive on Feb 17 after a targeted screening of workers at two factories staying at a dormitory in Shah Alam. Some 516 people were screened, and 39 were found to be positive.
  • Jalan Hulu Tinggi – a workplace cluster involving Petaling, Klang, Kuala Selangor and Gombak. The first few cases tested positive on Jan 26 after a targeted screening of factory workers at the Hicom industrial area in Shah Alam. To date, 800 individuals have been screened, with 61 testing positive.
  • Mayang – a workplace cluster in Petaling. The first few cases tested positive on Feb 7 after a targeted screening of factory workers in Petaling Jaya. Some 52 people were screened, 24 of whom tested positive.

Johor:

  • Jalan Perindustrian Estate – a workplace cluster involving Kulai, Kota Tinggi, and Johor Bahru. The first few cases tested positive on Feb 8 after a targeted screening of factory workers at the Senai Industrial Estate in Kulai. To date, 239 individuals have been screened, with 53 testing positive.
  • Jalan DPB 3 – a workplace cluster in Johor Bahru. The index case tested positive today via a symptomatic screening. The cluster involves employees at a service company at the Tanjung Pelepas port. Some 97 people were screened, 41 of whom tested positive.
  • Perindustrian Fasa 2 – a workplace cluster involving Kulai and Kota Tinggi. The first few cases tested positive on Feb 8 after a targeted screening of factory workers at the Fasa 2 industrial area in Senai. To date, 146 individuals have been screened, with 27 testing positive.
  • Jalan Sri Putri – a high-risk cluster in Kulai. The index case tested positive on Feb 15 via a symptomatic screening. The cluster involves a care centre. Some 30 people were screened, 22 of whom tested positive.
  • Jalan Tebrau Dua – a workplace cluster in Johor Bahru. The index case tested positive on Feb 13 after being diagnosed with severe acute respiratory infection. The cluster involves an administrative centre in Bukit Senyum. To date, 96 individuals have been screened, with 12 testing positive.

Sabah:

  • Lot Satu – a workplace cluster in Penampang. The index case tested positive on Feb 15 via a symptomatic screening. The cluster involves employees at a restaurant in Donggongon. Some 11 people were screened, nine of whom tested positive.
  • Lot Tujuh – a workplace cluster in Penampang. The index case tested positive on Feb 17 via a symptomatic screening. The cluster involves employees at a restaurant in the Majukota Commercial Centre. To date, 30 individuals have been screened, with eight testing positive.

Kuala Lumpur:

  • Mediacity – a workplace cluster involving Cheras, Titiwangsa, Lembah Pantai and Putrajaya. The index cases tested positive on Feb 1 via a symptomatic screening. The cluster involves a service firm in Lembah Pantai. Some 258 people were screened, 15 of whom tested positive.

Perak:

  • Jalan Changkat Jong – a workplace cluster involving Hilir Perak and Perak Tengah. The first few cases tested positive on Feb 3 after a targeted screening of employees at a company in Teluk Intan. To date, 471 individuals have been screened, with 166 testing positive.

Penang:

  • Lintang Kampung Jawa – a workplace cluster involving Seberang Perai Selatan, Barat Daya, Timur Laut, Seberang Perai Tengah and Seberang Perai Utara. The first few cases tested positive on Feb 1 via symptomatic screenings. This cluster involves factory workers at the Bayan Lepas industrial zone. Some 263 people were screened, 47 of whom tested positive.

Pahang:

  • Jalan Telok Ira – a religious school cluster in Temerloh. The index case tested positive on Feb 16 after a close contact screening. The cluster involves an education centre on Jalan Telok Ira. To date, 263 individuals have been screened, with 47 testing positive.

Terengganu:

  • Kampung Jawek – a community cluster in Besut. The index case tested positive on Feb 14 after a close contact screening. Some 146 people were screened, nine of whom tested positive.
