Speaking at the launch of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme handbook, Muhyiddin said this will be followed by the rollout of vaccines on Feb 26, where he will be among the first to receive the vaccine.
He also announced that the handbook, which gives further details on the country’s largest vaccination programme, can be downloaded at www.vaksincovid.gov.my.
It contains information on the government’s portfolio of Covid-19 vaccines, the facilities provided to store them and the vaccination process, among others.
Muhyiddin also revealed that the slogan for the immunisation programme will be “Lindung Diri, Lindung Semua” (Protect oneself, protect all).
He said the programme is the country’s “ray of hope” in the battle against the virus, adding that various sectors of the economy will be allowed to fully operate following its successful implementation.
“Let us not take this issue lightly. When the time comes, do not hesitate to register to receive the vaccine. I urge everyone to participate,” he said.
Last week, science, technology and innovation minister Khairy Jamaluddin, who is the immunisation programme coordinator, said those interested would have five ways to sign up for the vaccine, including via the MySejahtera application.
Other ways include signing up through a special hotline, the Covid-19 Vaccine Supply Access Guarantee Special Committee website, and at public and private clinics and hospitals. Those living in rural areas will be required to register with the state government.
It was reported that the first phase of vaccinations, from February to April, is for the 500,000 frontliners who are directly involved in the fight against Covid-19. The second phase, from April to August, will target the high-risk group, while the third phase, from May to February 2022, will involve those aged 18 and above.
In a tweet today, Khairy said a total of 312,390 doses of the Pfizer vaccine will arrive at KLIA, where they will be sorted and sent to vaccine storage sites across Malaysia.
“We will have the army and police escorting and securing the vaccines from end to end,” he said, adding that the government was looking to add other vaccines in phase 1 of the programme if they pass the regulatory process.
