13 new Covid-19 clusters, 10 involving workplaces

Two of the other clusters involved a high-risk group and a detention centre.

The clusters are in Johor, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Melaka, Terengganu and Perak.
PETALING JAYA:
The health ministry has detected 13 new Covid-19 clusters in the past 24 hours, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said today.

In a statement, he said 10 of them involved workplaces.

Of the remaining three, one was a community cluster, one involved a high-risk group and the third was a detention centre cluster.

The clusters are in Johor, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Melaka, Terengganu and Perak.

Selangor reported five new clusters while Penang and Terengganu reported two each. Melaka, Johor, Perak and Kuala Lumpur reported one cluster each.

Clusters that reported the most inflections today were the Jalan Senai Utama (131), Tanjung Suria (68), and Tembok Bendera (40).

The new clusters are:

Selangor

  • Jalan Bursa – a workplace cluster in Petaling and Klang in Selangor. The index cases tested positive on Feb 4 through a targeted screening on a company at Jalan Bursa, Shah Alam. A total of 66 people have been screened, with 22 found positive.
  • Jalan Kepong – a factory cluster in Kuala Selangor, Selangor. The index case tested positive on Feb 7 through a targeted screening on a factory at Jalan Kepong, Ijok, Kuala Selangor. A total of 150 people have been screened, with 23 found positive.
  • Jalan Tiga Belas – a factory cluster in Petaling and Kuala Selangor in Selangor. The index cases tested positive on Jan 30 through a targeted screening on a factory at Jalan 13/6, Petaling Jaya. A total of 120 people have been screened, with 11 found positive.
  • Jalan Cheras – a care centre cluster involving a high-risk group in Hulu Langat district, Selangor. The index case tested positive on Feb 15 through a symptomatic individual screening. The cluster involves a care centre at Jalan Cheras, Kajang. A total of 182 people have been screened, with 24 found positive.
  • Jalan Tropicana – a workplace cluster in Petaling, Selangor. The index cases tested positive on Feb 5 through a targeted screening on a supermarket at Jalan Mutiara Tropicana, Petaling Jaya. A total of 73 people have been screened, with 25 found positive.

Johor

  • Jalan Senai Utama – a factory cluster in Kulai, Johor. The index cases tested positive on Feb 15 through a targeted screening on a factory in Mukim Senai, Kulai. A total of 414 people have been screened, with 131 found positive.

Kuala Lumpur

  • Jalan Jinjang – a factory cluster in Kepong, Kuala Lumpur. The index cases tested positive on Feb 15 through a targeted screening on a factory at Jalan Jinjang Aman, Kepong. A total of 150 people have been screened, with 12 found positive.

Penang

  • Persiaran Mutiara construction site – a construction site cluster in Timur Laut, Penang. The index case tested positive on Feb 12 through a screening before getting admitted to the hospital. The cluster involves a construction site at Persiaran Bayan Mutiara, Timur Laut. A total of 21 people have been screened, with 14 found positive.
  • Jalan Baru – a supermarket cluster in Seberang Perai Tengah and Seberang Perai Utara, Penang. The index case tested positive on Feb 8 through an individual symptomatic screening. The cluster involves a supermarket at Jalan Baru, Perai. A total of 73 people have been screened, with 22 found positive.

Terengganu

  • Guntong Dalam – a workplace cluster in Setiu and Besut in Terengganu. The index case tested positive on Feb 9 through an individual symptomatic screening. The cluster involves a company at Bandar Jerteh, Besut. A total of 293 people have been screened, with 43 found positive.
  • Pengkalan Teras – a community cluster in Besut in Terengganu. The index case tested positive on Feb 8 through an individual symptomatic screening. The name of the cluster refers to the index cases’ home in Kampung Pengkalan Teras, Besut. A total of 237 people have been screened, with 29 found positive.

Melaka

  • Teknologi Lot Enam – a factory cluster in Melaka Tengah, Jasin and Alor Gajah in Melaka. The index case tested positive on Feb 11 through an individual symptomatic screening. The cluster involves workers at a factory at Lot 6, Batu Berendam, Melaka Tengah. A total of 300 people have been screened, with 24 found positive.

Perak

  • Tembok Tapah – a detention centre cluster in Batang Padang in Perak. The index case tested positive on Feb 9 through an individual symptomatic screening. The cluster involves a detention centre at Jalan Tapah, Batang Padang. A total of 191 people have been screened, with 64 found positive.

Clusters closed

Eight clusters have officially ended today, namely the Jalan Sibuga, Taman Tasik Sungai Chua, Jalan Bukit Bendera, Lumut Barat, Pagar Siput, Kampung Renok, Sungai Redan, and Bah Manggis clusters. There are now 489 active clusters out of the 996 reported.
