
PETALING JAYA: The health ministry has detected 14 new Covid-19 clusters in seven states and two federal territories in the past 24 hours.
Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said 13 of them involved workplaces, while the remaining one was a community cluster.
The clusters are in Johor, Perak, Kedah, Selangor, Kelantan, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.
These are the new clusters reported today:
Johor
- Jalan Seelong – a workplace cluster in Kulai. The first few cases tested positive on Feb 8 after a targeted screening at a company in Jalan Seelong, Senai. Some 568 people were screened, 327 of whom tested positive.
- Jalan Perindustrian Elektronik – a workplace cluster involving factory workers in Kulai, Kota Tinggi, Pontian and Muar. The first few cases tested positive on Feb 10 after a targeted screening at a factory in Senai Industrial Estate, Kulai. Some 2,190 people were screened, 25 of whom tested positive.
- Jalan Besar Pontian – a factory cluster in Batu Pahat and Pontian. The index case tested positive on Feb 2 after a symptomatic screening. This cluster involves factory workers in Jalan Pontian. Some 102 people were screened, 64 of whom tested positive.
- Ladang Pekan – a workplace cluster involving estate workers in Kluang and close contacts to the index case. The index case tested positive on Feb 8 after a symptomatic screening. A total of 31 people were screened, 18 of whom tested positive.
- Perindustrian Pelepas – a workplace cluster involving Johor Bahru, Kluang, Kota Tinggi, Mersing, Kulai, and Muar. The index case tested positive on Jan 27 after a symptomatic screening. The cluster involves factory workers at a free industrial zone in Gelang Patah. Some 506 people were screened, 32 of whom tested positive.
Perak
- Jalan Jelapang – a detention centre cluster involving Kinta and Kuala Kangsar. The index case tested positive on Jan 23 after developing influenza-like illness. This cluster involves factory workers Taman Meru industrial zone in Ipoh. To date 818 people were screened, 24 of whom tested positive.
- Jalan Perusahaan Tiga – a workplace cluster involving Larut, Matang, Selama and Kerian. The index case tested positive on Feb 1 after a symptomatic screening. This cluster involves factory workers at Jalan Perusahaan Tiga, Kamunting, Larut, Matang, and Selama. Some 26 people were screened, 21 of whom tested positive.
- Kampung Teluk – a community cluster involving Manjung. The index case tested positive on Feb 5 after a screening at a workplace. To date 43 people were screened, 21 of whom tested positive.
Selangor
- Bina Damar construction site – a construction site cluster involving Sepang and Putrajaya. The first few cases tested positive today after a targeted screening at the site. Some 701 were screened, 64 of whom tested positive.
- Taman Industri – a workplace cluster involving Petaling and Kuala Selangor. The first few cases tested positive today after a targeted screening at a factory. To date, 278 have been screened, with 16 testing positive.
- Pantai Dalam construction site – a workplace cluster in Lembah Pantai. The first few cases tested positive today after a targeted screening at the site. Some 265 were screened, 94 of whom tested positive.
Kedah
- Selambau – a workplace cluster in Selambau. The first few cases tested positive today after a targeted screening of factory workers living in Bukit Selambau, Teloi Kiri and Kuala Muda. To date 247 have been screened, with 136 testing positive.
- Melaka
- Teknologi Berendam – a workplace cluster involving Melaka Tengah, Jasin and Alor Gajah. The first few cases tested positive today after a targeted screening of factory workers at a free trade zone in Melaka Tengah. Some 1,241 were screened, 41 of whom tested positive.
Kelantan
- Pangkal Changgong – A workplace cluster involving Machang, Pasir Puteh and Tanah Merah. The index case tested positive on Feb 10 after a symptomatic screening. This cluster involves a learning centre in Machang. To date 57 have been screened, with 14 testing positive.
