Umno Youth questions govt silence over Adib probe

Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki says it's been 16 months since a coroner ruled that fireman Adib died as a result of a crime.

A coroner ruled last year that firefighter Muhammad Adib Kassim died as a result of criminal action by two or more people.
PETALING JAYA:
Umno Youth has questioned the government’s silence over police investigations into the cause of death of firefighter Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim two years ago.

Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, head of the youth wing, said appropriate action should be taken so that Adib’s family is not left in the dark.

In December, home minister Hamzah Zainudin had said that the investigation was in the final stages and the results of the investigation would be submitted to the Attorney-General’s Chambers.

Asyraf said: “The longer the case is postponed, the stronger the perception would be that the family has been denied justice based on the principle that justice delayed is justice denied,” he said in a Facebook posting.

He said that it had been 16 months since the Shah Alam coroner’s court ruled that Adib died as a result of a crime committed by more than two or more unknown persons.

Adib, 24, was a member of the Emergency Medical Rescue Services unit from the Subang Jaya Fire and Rescue Station.

He sustained serious injuries during a riot at the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple in USJ 25, Subang Jaya, on Nov 27, 2018.

He died on Dec 17, after 21 days at the National Heart Institute.
