Umno leader fires warning to PPBM over call to probe ‘secret slush fund’

Razlan Rafii reminds PPBM that their leader became prime minister because of Umno’s generosity.

Umno Supreme Council member Mohd Razlan Muhammad Rafii accused his PPBM counterpart Muhammad Faiz Na’aman of trying to get his party declared unlawful.
PETALING JAYA:
An Umno Supreme Council member has fired a warning shot at PPBM after one of its leaders called for a probe into an alleged “Umno secret slush fund”.

In a statement, Mohd Razlan Muhammad Rafii accused his PPBM counterpart Muhammad Faiz Na’aman of trying to get his party declared unlawful.

Yesterday, Faiz had called for a probe into an allegation of the secret Umno bank account mentioned in a suit filed by the government to seize funds which were allegedly linked to 1Malaysia Development Bhd.

Umno had claimed the money belonged to the party but the prosecution alleged it was held in a secret unaudited account used to receive political donations and contravened provisions of the Societies Act.

Razlan said there were “unanswered” questions relating to PPBM, including the “mushrooming” of its branches nationwide.

“Where does all the money for this come from?”

He said this was yet another “threatening” remark towards Umno, which has backed the federal government.

“I wish to remind all PPBM leaders, not to forget that Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin became prime minister because of Umno’s generosity.

“If PPBM loses the next general election, your leaders will also be prosecuted by the opponents,” he said.
