
Court filings showed the Inland Revenue Board early last month filed a suit against Loo Ai Swan, also known as Jasmine Loo, a former in-house lawyer of 1MDB, for RM2,496,133 in tax arrears.
It has also sued Casey Tang Keng Chee, a former 1MDB executive director for business development, for RM6,779,852.
It was reported yesterday that Eric Tan Kim Loong, an associate of Low, had been sued by the government for close to RM68 million in unpaid taxes.
All three are on the wanted lists of the police and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission in connection with the 1MDB scandal and have been charged in absentia along with Low, also known as Jho Low.
Loo, 48, is said to owe taxes for the assessment years of 2012 to 2018. Notices were sent to her last-known address at Damansara Heights here in November but there was no reply.
The government now wants to claim RM2,496,133, along with 5% interest per annum from the date judgment is obtained until the day the money is paid.
In the case of Tang, 56, the government wants to claim RM6,779,852, plus 5% interest per annum from the date judgment is obtained until the day the money is paid.
A notice was sent on Oct 6 last year to his last-known address at Taman Sri Endah here but there was also no response.
A tax lawyer told FMT the government could apply for a default judgment if it has taken all steps to serve the cause papers to Loo and Tang or their counsel.
