The movement is accompanied by a poster detailing the requests to be fulfilled or for the government to be changed. At the time of writing, over 48,000 tweets bearing the hashtag had been posted.

FMT understands that the five measures are a compilation of netizens’ comments taken from an Istana Negara Facebook post, which showed the King granting an audience to Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin for a pre-Cabinet meeting on Feb 3.

Among the demands listed are a targeted and effective movement control order (MCO), full support for frontliners by channelling all resources to fight Covid-19, and an automatic bank loan moratorium and cash aid for the people throughout the MCO.

Others included fair and equitable enforcement of the National Security Council’s standard operating procedures (SOPs), as well as immediate distribution of devices with internet data to all students.

At the end of the requests, the poster read: “Or change the government.”

The current MCO has been extended to Feb 18 as Malaysia continues to record a high number of daily infections, with 234,874 cumulative positive cases as of yesterday.

Putrajaya most recently received widespread criticism for its SOPs for the Chinese New Year celebrations next week, with politicians and other individuals claiming it to be culturally tone-deaf and calling for the rules to be rectified.
