Publisher to sue anyone sharing PDF copy of Tommy Thomas’ book

Gerakbudaya says the book is only available for sale in hard copy.

Former attorney-general Tommy Thomas’ book ‘My Story: Justice in the Wilderness’ has been selling like hotcakes since it was released on Saturday.
PETALING JAYA:
The publisher of the memoir by former attorney-general Tommy Thomas has threatened legal action against anyone sharing a pirated PDF copy of the book online.

In a brief statement, GB Gerakbudaya also sought the cessation of the circulation of the digital copy.

It also demanded that the “infringer” remove the copy immediately.

The book, it said, is only available in hard copy, and the digital versions remain private and confidential.

“We are providing this notice in good faith and that the circulation of the pirated version constitutes an intellectual property (IP) violation, and we intend to take legal action regarding this matter if it fails to be resolved.

The statement comes hours after Gerakbudaya said the book, titled “My Story: Justice in the Wilderness” – which was released two days ago – was out of stock due to overwhelming demand.

A second run of the book is expected to be ready for sale from Friday.

The 500-page memoir details the achievements and failures of the past Pakatan Harapan government among other key issues, such as the prosecution of fugitive businessman Low Taek Jho and 1MDB, the extradition of controversial Islamic preacher Zakir Naik, and the resignation of former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
