PH task force to help in Covid-19 vaccination

The task force is willing to work with the government to ensure the vaccine is able to reach the whole country.

Former health minister Dzulkefly Ahmad will chair the Pakatan Harapan task force which plans to work with the federal government in the national immunisation programme.
PETALING JAYA:
Pakatan Harapan (PH) has established a task force to assist the government in the implementation of the Covid-19 immunisation programme.

The task force wants to work with the federal government to ensure the Covid-19 immunisation programme goes beyond the political divide and is able to reach the whole country.

The task force is chaired by former health minister Dzulkefly Ahmad and consists of representatives from parties under the PH coalition as well as health exco members from PH’s state governments.

“For the sake of the people and the future of the country, PH wants to cross the political divide to work with the government. We hope this move will convince the people to get vaccinated,” Dzulkefly said in a statement today.

“We would also like to call on the federal government to involve PH representatives in the Covid-19 vaccine supply access guarantee special committee (JKJAV).

“The involvement of PH representatives in JKJAV will send a message to the people that the national immunisation plan goes beyond politics and has the support of the whole country,” he said in a statement today.

Further, he said the task force would also assist in strategic communications on the benefits of the vaccine, to eradicate anti-vaccine ideology and coordinate the implementation of immunisations in the Parliament and state assembly.

He added that the task force would also involve other relevant stakeholders such as physicians and non-governmental organisations to monitor the implementation of the immunisation programme.

He said the members of the task force include Dr Lee Boon Chye (former deputy health minister), Kuching MP Kelvin Yii, Lumut MP Mohd Hatta Ramli, Bayan Baru MP Sim Tze Tzin, Bangi MP Ong Kian Ming, Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud (Selangor health exco), Dr Norlela Ariffin (Penang health exco) and S Veerapan (Negeri Sembilan health exco).
