
Ismail said this includes supermarkets, sundry shops, convenient stores, pharmacies, optometrists, laundrettes and pet shops.
He added that all businesses involved in the forestry and timber industry will also be allowed to resume operations from tomorrow. This will include logging companies.
Business hours of restaurants and shops selling food were extended to 10pm recently, following complaints from the public and industry players.
Meanwhile, Ismail said police arrested 494 people yesterday over offences related to the movement control order: 464 were issued compound notices, 29 remanded and one released on bail.
The offences include flouting physical-distancing rules (56), failure to wear face masks (112), failure to provide materials for contact tracing or registration (67), crossing state or district borders without permission (62) and others (197).
A total of 3,074 compliance task force teams were deployed to conduct checks on supermarkets, restaurants, hawker stalls, factories, banks, among others.
Ismail also said police caught 21 illegal immigrants and seized two vehicles under Op Benteng. Enforcement set up 540 roadblocks for monitoring yesterday.
