
In a statement, it said Hamzah is being treated at University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) and thanked those who had expressed concern over his condition.
“Any legitimate and official updates on Hamzah’s health will only be issued by the office of the home minister,” it added.
Rumours had circulated on social media that Hamzah’s condition had worsened and that he had been admitted to the intensive care unit.
Hamzah became the third Perikatan Nasional minister to test positive for Covid-19, after women, family and community development minister Rina Harun and minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (economy) Mustapa Mohamed.
National unity minister Halimah Sadique and deputy communications and multimedia minister Zahidi Zainul Abidin also tested positive a few days later.
