
Environment and water minister Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said the violations were related to environmental impact assessment (EIA) approval requirements, especially involving earthworks carried out without adhering to the Environment Department’s Land Disturbing-Pollution Prevention and Mitigation Measures plan.
“The Perak environment department has cordoned the area off and instructions have been issued for remedial action,” he said on his Facebook page today.
“The Perak environment department is completing the investigation papers and calling up the relevant parties.”
On Monday, the Perak government ordered all quarrying work near the waterfall to be stopped immediately following reports that it has caused the near destruction of the tourist spot.
