Tested positive and awaiting a call? Use the app, says ministry

On the ministry's Facebook page, a user posts a plea for help, saying she has yet to be contacted despite having tested Covid-19 positive.

The health ministry said MySejahtera users can report that they are Covid-19 positive and receive instructions on what to do.
KUALA LUMPUR:
Covid-19 patients awaiting a call from the health ministry can now report themselves through the MySejahtera application on smart phones, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said today.

He said the MySejahtera application was being upgraded and enhanced to better manage the outbreak, as well as to meet the needs of users in the effort to break the chain of infection in the community, Bernama reported.

His statement comes in the wake of news reports of delays faced by those who have tested positive but who had not been taken to hospital, and who have not been told what they should do next.

Yesterday, FMT reported on a family of six people in Petaling Jaya who have not had word from ministry officials despite having tested positive. On the ministry’s Facebook page this evening, a Facebook user similarly pleaded for help from the ministry.

Noor Hisham said those who had tested Covid-19 positive could go to the MySejahtera help desk on the home page of the MySejahtera app and follow the instructions in section G.

Users registered as positive cases at the Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre would also receive notifications via SMS and via MySejahtera from today.

They would also get advice and follow-up plans for self-assessment as well as reminders to carry out the symptom monitoring assessment in the “Need to do” section for 10 consecutive days. If the user has symptoms, the information will continue to be channelled to the Covid-19 Assessment Centre and the user will be contacted by a health worker for further evaluation,” he said.

He advised MySejahtera users to update the app and make full use of all its functions.

Facebook user pleads for help

In a comment posted on the ministry’s Facebook page, a netizen appealed for help, saying she and her relatives had tested positive but have yet to be contacted by officials.

“My husband has been sent to Sungai Buloh (hospital). We just self-quarantine. I went into MySejahtera and got the information that there are 51 cases in my area.

“Means KKM Overload,” she said. “So we just wait until the 10 days quarantine (is over).”

She said her mother and father are senior citizens “and I hope KKM does something fast. At least advise me”. She said her three children are still awaiting the results of a swab test taken at the same time with her parents “but the results are still not out”.

“I don’t know to whom I should channel my problem. Pls KKM help me. I need advice or guidelines in handling the Covid positive situation,” the netizen wrote.
