American Malaysian Chamber of Commerce lauds govt measures during MCO

Amcham says allowing businesses to continue operations and quick release of information helps its member companies.

The American Malaysian Chamber of Commerce said it would continue to support its member companies and the government in the fight against Covid-19.
KUALA LUMPUR:
The government’s sustained engagement in implementing the second movement control order (MCO 2.0) has enabled businesses to continue operations with minimal disruption, the American Malaysian Chamber of Commerce (Amcham) said.

The chamber commended the government, especially the international trade and industry ministry, for the coordinated efforts in implementing the MCO from Jan 13 to Jan 26.

“Quick and effective release of information has helped executives communicate to staff, along with regional and global offices, in order to make informed decisions.

“Knowing that they have a collaborative working relationship with government bodies, directly or via interlocutors like the chamber, provides stability and assurances to customers locally and globally,” it said in a statement today.

Amcham said that it would continue to support its member companies and the government in the collective fight against the global Covid-19 pandemic, putting the safety of the people first while balancing the needs of the economy.

“Amcham member companies are fully aware that strict adherence to the standard operating procedures is vital to minimising the spread of Covid-19 and remain vigilant,” it added.
