Lim said he was asked to give his statement to police officers from Bukit Aman. Accompanied by lawyers RSN Rayer and Ramkarpal Singh, he arrived at the police headquarters at about 2.30 pm and left almost two hours later.
Lim, a former Penang chief minister and also former finance minister, was initially scheduled to give his statement on Dec 24 but the appointment was cancelled after he questioned why it was to be held on Christmas Eve.
After today’s session, Lim questioned why police decided to take his statement now when Penang was under the movement control order.
Northeast district police chief Soffian Santong confirmed Lim was present today but he declined to elaborate.
“Yes, he was present (to give a statement)…investigation was conducted by a team from Bukit Aman,” he said when contacted by Bernama today.
