Chief Minister Hajiji Noor said thanks to the efforts by previous administrations, the state had experienced rapid development, which had benefitted the people.
“But that doesn’t mean we can rest on our laurels or be satisfied with what has been achieved,” he said, at the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) Open Day here today.
“More needs to be done particularly in rural areas. That is why we need a target, or a high-impact direction, that will change the lives of the people.”
Hajiji said the five-year SMJ development plan was drawn up specifically to revive the state’s economic growth.
“This strategic direction is to ensure development in Sabah continues despite the Covid-19 pandemic,” he said.
He added that the open day was the third phase of the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah government’s effort towards establishing the SMJ framework.
“This third phase involves collecting feedback from all affected stakeholders, including students to ensure the SMJ plan will truly fulfil the people’s aspirations,” he said, adding that the plan will be launched at the end of the month.
