It’s still back to campus on March 1

Local students will be required to attend classes from March while International students are already in varsities.

Local tertiary students will have to attend classes in campuses even with the various MCOs and the state of emergency.
PETALING JAYA:
The intake of students at higher education institutes will proceed as announced despite the movement control orders imposed on some states in the country.

The higher education ministry said international students, except those from the UK, are still allowed to be on campus while local students may start returning to campus from March 1.

In a statement, the ministry said all students already on campus are required to remain there and proceed with their “hybrid” lessons while other students off-campus will continue with online classes until the end of the MCO.

“International and professional exams are allowed to be held on campus. Students facing clinical training and professional exams, or who require laboratories, studios or access to the internet are also allowed into campuses.

“Special letters of permission will be issued by the higher education institutes to enable such students to request permission from the authorities for interstate or inter-district travel.

“The ministry urges that academic activities on campuses be held in full compliance with SOPs, prioritising safety measures and always with the norms of mask wearing, hand sanitising and physical distancing.”

Last year, Putrajaya said foreign university and international school students would be allowed into the country for the 2021 academic year from Jan 1, except those travelling from the UK.

The MCO announced yesterday will start tomorrow and last for 14 days, ending on Jan 26.
