Former prime minister Najib Razak made this call today and also urged the government to reinstate interstate travel restrictions and the conditional movement control order (CMCO) for at least another two weeks to curb the Covid-19 spread.
His comments come in the wake of the health ministry’s announcement that a new daily record of 2,593 new cases were recorded in the 24 hours ending noon today.
“It is disappointing that the daily Covid-19 cases hit a new record today.

“We have also exceeded Honduras, Nigeria, Bahrain, Kenya, Algeria, Libya, Paraquay, Ireland, Bosnia and Venezuela, after moving past China only three weeks ago” he said in a Facebook post this evening.
Najib added that the national case number is expected to exceed Myanmar in a matter of two days.
Today’s daily cases pushed the total number of cases to 125,438. There are 24,347 active cases with 141 patients receiving intensive care, of which 67 require respiratory assistance.
