
Highway concessionaire Lebuhraya Pantai Timur 2 (LPT2) today said Km198 of the East Coast Expressway Phase 1 (ECE 1) interchange was currently flooded.
“Currently, all LPT2 stretches between Kuala Terengganu and Jabor are still accessible.
“However, as LPT2 is connected to ECE, travellers who have entered LPT2 are strongly advised to stop at any of the rest and service areas (R&R) provided and at the same time ensure that they adhere with all SOPs in line with the health ministry and the National Security Council’s guidelines,” said LPT2 business manager Roszi Ibrahim in a statement.
He added those who wanted to travel to Kelantan or Terengganu from the Klang Valley are advised to stop at the Temerloh R&R at ECE 1 before heading to their destinations.
“The public can obtain the latest information on the traffic conditions and flood situation on our social media pages or call our hotline at 1800-88-0220 or 1700-81-8700,” Roszi said.
Earlier today, the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) warned that there will be more inclement weather over the next two days.
The department issued a weather warning alert that heavy rain will continue in Kelantan, several areas in Terengganu and Pahang until Tuesday while some parts of Selangor and Perak will also be facing bad weather.
MetMalaysia added bad weather will hit the districts of Besut, Setiu, Kuala Nerus, Hulu Terengganu, Kuala Terengganu, Marang and Dungun in Terengganu as well as Cameron Highlands and Lipis in Pahang.
Heavy rain is also expected in Perak (Kinta, Kampar, Bagan Datuk, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang and Muallim) and in Selangor (involving the Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor and Hulu Selangor districts) until tomorrow.
In Johor, Bernama reported that the number of flood victims increased to 6,248 victims from 1,628 families at noon compared to 5,818 victims from 1,540 families recorded this morning, involving seven districts.

Johor State Health and Environment Committee chairman R Vidyananthan said Johor Bahru recorded the highest number of victims with 2,452, followed by Kluang with 1,867 people and Kota Tinggi with 1,125 victims.
Evacuation centres were opened at schools and halls, with 19 in Kluang, 14 in Kota Tinggi, 13 in Johor Bahru, five in Kulai, two each in Mersing and Batu Pahat and one in Pontian.
So far, 85 villages, several housing estates as well as oil palm plantations and roads, have been affected by the floods in the state.
In Pahang, the number of flood victims increased to 447 from 119 families compared to 65 from 19 families this morning.
According to data from the Welfare Department’s website, as at 1pm, Temerloh, Raub and Jerantut were the latest districts to be hit by floods following continuous rainfall since last night.
Eleven victims from two families have been placed at relief centres in Paya Luas and Sungai Gau in Temerloh, while in Raub, 28 people from eight families sought shelter at the Kampung Peruas surau and another three victims at the Umno hall in Kampung Batu Talam.
Apart from that, 114 victims from 23 families in Jerantut have been placed at the Felda Kota Gelanggi Satu JKKK hall.
In Maran, 76 victims from 21 families were housed at the Sungai Jerik surau while 44 victims from 13 families were moved to the Kampung Jara Community Hall.
In Rompin, four evacuation centres were opened, housing 44 victims from 12 families.
