Father and son held for insult to two national anthems

They were arrested in Lahad Datu, Sabah, over videos that insulted the Indonesian and Malaysian anthems.

KUALA LUMPUR:
An Indonesian man and his son have been arrested in Lahad Datu over videos that were allegedly an insult to the Indonesian and Malaysian national anthems.

Federal police said the man and his son were arrested on Dec 28 and an Indonesian student was arrested in West Java on Dec 31.

A report had been lodged against the owners of the Youtube account My Asean and Asean Channel ID. The insulting videos had been taken down but were shared on other social media apps, a police spokesman said.

The student was believed to be involved in creating the video with altered lyrics, a police statement said.
