
In a statement, he said 1,352 of them were fined and 32 were remanded. Another four were freed on bail.
A total of 623 were arrested at pubs and nightclubs, 424 for not practising physical distancing, 137 for not wearing masks, and 118 for not recording their personal details upon entering shops.
The authorities also arrested 95 undocumented migrants yesterday as part of their ongoing Op Benteng campaign.
“The government will take strict action against anyone who tries to enter the country’s borders illegally and enforcement agencies will continue to tighten our border control,” Ismail said.
He added that 96,312 people had arrived through KLIA from July 24, 2020 to Jan 1 from various countries.
A total of 540 people were sent to hospital for treatment, 88,225 were allowed to return home while 7,547 are currently undergoing the mandatory quarantine.
