1,880 healthcare workers positive for Covid-19, says DG

Cross-infection between healthcare workers made up a third of total number of cases.

PETALING JAYA: A total of 1,880 healthcare workers have tested positive for Covid-19, Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said.

In a statement today, Noor Hisham said that based on the health ministry’s investigations, the majority of the infections were from healthcare workers (33%) and from the community (33%).

The announcement by Noor Hisham comes a day after he revealed that some health workers had gone to work despite exhibiting Covid-19 symptoms.

Some others, he noted, had failed to wear masks in the hospitals, which led to the new infections being detected there.

Noor Hisham said this after two clusters linked to Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Klang (HTAR) were detected.

He then reminded health workers to follow the SOPs.
