
In a Twitter post, it said the theatres are in Aman Central in Kedah, Gurney Plaza and Sunway Carnival Mall in Penang, Dataran Pahlawan and AEON Bandaraya in Melaka, Alamanda in Putrajaya, East Coast Mall and Mentakab Star Mall in Pahang and CityONE Megamall in Sarawak.
Cinemas in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur will remain closed for now, while the reopening of the nine locations is dependent on the current Covid-19 situation.
GSC added that moviegoers would still have to sit one seat apart, as the SOP employed will be similar to that during the recovery movement control order.
The operations of all cinemas across the country were temporarily suspended since November, after seeing a 90% revenue loss since the pandemic began.
In late October, the Malaysian Association of Film Exhibitors said the decision was made following the enforcement of the conditional movement control order in several states, where cinemas are required to stay closed. The lack of new movie releases was also a factor for the decision.
