
The Sultan also accepted the resignation of all the state executive councillors.
In a statement, Comptroller of the Perak Royal Household Abd Rahim Mohamad Nor confirmed that the PPBM deputy president handed in a letter stating that his position as menteri besar had been affected after the state assembly’s vote on Friday.
“With that, he expressed his wish to resign as menteri besar along with members of the state government.”
He said the Sultan had assented to the request by Ahmad Faizal and his exco members to resign and make way for a new appointment.
Sultan Nazrin thanked Ahmad Faizal and his exco members for their service to the state.
Ahmad Faizal was ousted by a confidence vote in the Perak state assembly on Friday with 48 members voting against him while 10 voted for him. There was one abstention.
Umno currently has 25 seats in the 59-member assembly, while PPBM and its ally PAS have eight. The opposition Pakatan Harapan holds 24 seats.
